A group of people make art on postcards

A collaborative data visualization (creative) project to be carried out by interested faculty, staff, and students in the Environment and Sustainability Studies (ENV) Program and the Department of Art at Wake Forest University. There will be a public conversation and reception, and grow this into a multi-year collaboration that also would include Winston-Salem and other community collaborators. This project is inspired by the Dear Data project, where friends mailed each other postcards visualizing data in their everyday lives. What we propose is that during each summer month, collaborators draw a week’s worth of data on a predesignated prompt. Potential prompts are light pollution (May), ambient sounds (June), and what brings us joy (July). The postcards will be mailed (or held and turned in on campus if the collaborator is in an international locale) to ENV and Art to be displayed.

This project was renewed in Fall 2024.
