In Celebration of Eid: Riyaaz Qawwali
Sunday, March 30
7:30pm-9:30pm, Brendle Recital Hall

Qawwali is a form of devotional music from the Indian Subcontinent typically associated with Sufi practice within Islam – but has widespread appeal across religious groups. Eid is the holiday that caps Ramadan, one of the most sacred months for Muslims – notable for the day long fasts required during the month. This form of music and culture will enrich the experience of Eid for Muslim students, and enrich non-Muslim students by giving exposure to a unique cultural and religious art form.

For Muslim Students, this will be a historic first – bringing a Qawwali group to enrich the celebration of Eid. It would help increase feelings of joy and connection to Muslim Life and increase feelings of belonging. This is a valuable learning opportunity for non-Muslim students on campus to have a real interfaith experience.
