Hoop Dreams
30th Anniversary of the “Best Documentary of All Time”

Wednesday, March 19th
6:00pm, Porter Byrum Welcome Center

The Documentary Film Program at Wake Forest University, and Get in the Game, invite you to a special event honoring the 30th Anniversary of the groundbreaking documentary Hoop Dreams.

The film—called “the great American Documentary” by Film Critic Roger Ebert—follows the lives of two basketball players from inner-city Chicago as they navigate the journey from middle school to high school, to big time college basketball.

The two players—Arthur Agee and William Gates—will join the film’s Producer and Creative Director of the Documentary Film Program Peter Gilbert in a candid, revealing conversation on the making of the film, the issues it tackles and the resonance the film still has 30 years later. The three will share their favorite parts of the film and discuss how the film helped shape and advance the conversation of race and sport in America—a conversation we are still navigating today.

Parking is available in front of the building. Reception to follow.
