National Black Theatre Festival underway this week

The National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) is happening this week, August 1-6. The festival includes 75 vendors, a film festival, music, workshops, job opportunities for actors and directors, teen poetry slam, and, of course, theater.  The performance schedule can be found here.

The North Carolina Black Repertory Company’s mission is to engage, enrich and entertain with innovative programming that resonates across the community and challenges social perceptions. NBTF was founded by the late Larry Leon Hamlin in 1989 and brings thousands of people to the Triad.

Wake Forest and Reynolda House Museum of American Art are two of many locations in Winston-Salem hosting performances. Productions at WFU are being held at the Scales Fine Arts Center in the Tedford Mainstage Theatre.
